There are many reasons why people choose to buy or live in Bulgaria, and here we share with you our ten years of experience in doing so. 

The opportunity of owning a patch of the planet within Europe with the lowest possible overheads was a major factor in our choice of Bulgaria as a destination. 

We wanted to see if it would be possible to buy a property, renovate it ourselves, learn the language and integrate with the local community. The challenge was like starting life afresh, with so much to learn.

We also wanted to investigate the potential for almost self sufficient and low energy cost living if the need arose in the future.
